Called To Be Free
There are too many of us living a disenchanted Christian life. The believer’s faith hemorrhages because of the tenuous link between the trials of life and a person’s Biblical (or lack of) understanding of the will of God.
Each session is taught from Jeremiah 29.
After many Israeli citizens were carried off into captivity through the terrorist-like actions of the Babylonians, Jeremiah wrote to encourage God’s children to stay strong in the true faith. Despite their circumstances.
Session 1: The value of having Biblically aligned life-expectations
Session 2: How to deal with difficult people that won’t go away
Session 3: Discernment: the key to making better life choices
Session 4: God’s unfolding plan for welfare
What to expect:
Identifying key areas that make us feel captive to our circumstances is critical.
Participants will be able to:
Recognize unrealistic expectations, competing loyalties, and the disappointment that comes from unfulfilled hopes and dreams.
Realign themselves with God’s greater will for their lives
Regain a sense of freedom that is not contingent upon an ideal or preferred state of affairs, but comes from a deep conviction that God is sovereignty and in control over everything.
Each session is 35-40 minutes. Teachings can stand alone for conference/break out type sessions or taught in sequence for retreats etc.
Ready For Spiritual Battle
Session 1: The Battle for the Christian Life. It's real.
Scripture: Joshua 1
As the book of Joshua opens, Israel transitions from hundreds of years of oppression and bondage - and having lived in absolute defeat. Led by God, they are about to take hold of a the Promised Land. It sounds simple enough to us now. Back then, however, the stakes had never been higher; the battle never that fierce.
When I first got saved, I heard great things about what God had done for me because of how much He loved me. But there were some things no one told me about. For example: no one told me to that, while I was saved by grace, that one-time, incredibly joyful event would lead to more trouble than I could ever anticipate. Do you know what I'm talking about?
No one talked much, if at all, about the enemy of my soul. I kept wondering, if God was able to raise Jesus from the dead, why was I still living in such defeat? Maybe you've felt like that too?
This session will teach us important truths about the Christian life. It's a Battle! But we do not need to fear.
Session 2: Spying on the Enemy. Learning His Game Plan
Scripture: Joshua 2
Have you ever wondered why most of the Old Testament seems to be all about war? The Bible goes to great lengths to describe Israel's enemies and their strategies. Those stories are factual events that provide spiritual truths for believers today.
However, most of us either don't get it, or don't apply the battle truths. Many of us live oblivious to the fact that there is someone (yes, Satan is a real person) out to destroy us. But it's true. You and I have an enemy who wants to devour our souls.
Military strategists will tell you, learning the truth about your enemy is essential for Battle readiness. You need to know what Satan is up to and how he's accomplishing his plan. In this session, we'll let the Bible teach us what we need to know about our enemy so that we can be Battle Ready.
Session 3: Battle Ready Weapons
Scripture: Joshua 3
God has given us His divine power, provisions, and His strategy for success has been made available to us. The problem is, God's ways often sound - well - unconventional (read: ridiculous). We keep trying to win a spiritual battle using our own wisdom and worldly schemes. AND, we keep getting slaughtered. No tangible weapons can be effectively employed against Satan and his cohorts. We can't possibly win a spiritual battle using worldly methods.
In this session, we will learn about the equipment and power we have in Christ. Primary focus of this session will be on faith and prayer. Against these two, Satan is powerless. Isn't it time we tried it God's way?
Session 4: In It To Win It
Scripture: Joshua 5
You and I can't always know what's coming our way, but we can and should always be Battle Ready. Like it or not, just as Joshua was sent to the front lines, you and I have been called into Battle! For a promise. For a possession. For a great inheritance.
God told Joshua, "Every place the sole of your foot will tread upon, I have given you...And no one shall be able to stand against you all the days of your life". Joshua 1:3&5. Perhaps no one told you that rather than living from failure to failure, you and I have been equipped and empowered to over come the enemy.
Let's do the hard-work-of-the-soul now, so that we can be effective in the greater - no, wait - the greatest cause EVER. We are God's plan A for rescuing the lost souls. There is no plan B. "And the gates of Hell will not conquer us!" - Jesus. No matter when Satan attacks, or the strategies he uses, as a child of God, we are destined to win.
